JoAnn ‘Jody’ McCord passed away at her home in Holdenville, Oklahoma on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the age of seventy-two years.
JoAnn is the daughter of John & Mary Ann Elizabeth (Tucker) Tackett, born on May 21, 1953 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Her early childhood was spent in the Jack Fork community until she was in the fourth grade, when the family moved to Oklahoma City, their home for many years. JoAnn was a devoted mom and homemaker while working full-time as general manager for Pay 'N Pak in Oklahoma City until moving to Lamar in 1983. She was married to Robert ‘Bob’ McCord on December 18, 1993, in Oklahoma City. They made their home in Lamar, where they owned and operated Jody’s Diner from 1998 till 2014. Bob passed away on October 24, 2018, and in 2020 JoAnn moved to Holdenville. Some of her favorite things were reading and flower gardening. She was an avid fan of two TV shows, NCIS and Blue Bloods, and would watch every episode and then start over and watch them all again. What she loved most was spending time with her family. She attended Carson Baptist Church while living in Lamar.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John & Mary Ann Tackett; her husband, Robert ‘Bob’ McCord; ten siblings; two sons, Gary Vaughn Boyd and Travis Ray McCord; granddaughter Angel Leigh McCord.
She is survived by two daughters, Kim Boyd of the home, and Amy Mooney (Marcy) of Lamar; nine grandchildren: Reilly Vaughn Boyd of the home, Harley Dee Martin (Derrick) of Poteau, Tabitha Craig (Mason) of Seminole, Collin Ross of Norman, Laura Hamilton (Michael) of Holdenville, Madilyn McCord of Holdenville, Morgan McCord of Durant, Michael Simrell of Holdenville, and Kotah Armstrong of Oklahoma City; five great-grandchildren: Cambria, Kanan, Isabel, Asher, and Kayden; one sister, Ida Penny of Bartlesville; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, 10:30am at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel, with Rev. Lonnie Hoelscher officiating.
