Jimmy D. "Jim" Morphis, 76, of Wewoka, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 27th, 2013. He was surrounded by family and friends.
He was born September 3rd, 1936, in Bearden, Oklahoma, the son of the late Alice and Robert Morphis. He was the middle of 3 siblings. On December 30th, 1988, he married Patricia Kay Morphis, who survives.
Jim attended high school in Bakersfield, California, and spent the majority of his life working between Oklahoma and California as a journeyman mechanic. He was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Wewoka, where he served many years as a Deacon.
Jim was a devoted family man. He took great joy in being surrounded by his children, step-children, and numerous grandchildren. He was well known for his kind heart, generous spirit, and hearty laugh. He loved fishing and being outdoors. He could build anything, fix anything, and when all else failed, he was adept at holding things together with duct tape, spare parts, and prayer. "Ay-lau."
He is survived by his wife, Pat, his brother Steve Morphis and Sister-in-law Joyce Morphis of Wewoka; his sister Ruth Louise McCuan and brother-in-law William McCuan of Cromwell; his daughter Betty Burgeis and son-in-law Donald Burgeis of Tehachapi, CA; his daughter Diane Morphis and friend Dan Patrick of Bakersfield, CA; his son Gore Gaines and daughter-in-law Julie Gaines of Edmond; his son Tim Gaines and daughter-in-law Melanie Gaines of Shawnee; his son Torrey Gaines and daughter-in-law Shannon Gaines of Konawa; eleven grandchildren: Stephanie, Kesha, Crystal, Dwayne, Kathryn, Hannah, Casey, Luke, Colby, Audrey and Gray; six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his recliner-buddy Harley.
Our family wishes to express our gratitude to Jim's many friends and Heritage Village of Holdenville who supported him with friendship, love and prayers during his last illness.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 2nd 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Hilltop Family Life Center located three miles west of Wewoka on Highway 59. Rev. Perry Justus is the officiating minister.
