Jimmy Lee 'Goob' Choate passed away at his home in Holdenville on Sunday morning, March 29, 2015, at the age of 54 years.
Jimmy was born on December 20, 1960, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to Joyce Ann (Dority) Choate, who later married Jimmy Green, Jimmy's stepfather and beloved Dad. Jimmy was brought up and attended schools in Holdenville. He married Nancy Rowland on July 2, 1984, in Holdenville. Oilfield work was his lifelong occupation, and Holdenville was his lifelong home.
Jimmy worked as a roughneck, and on various other jobs in the oilfield that took him all over the country for many years. He was employed for the past ten years as a rig manager for Nomac Drilling. In his spare time he liked to build things, and he liked taking care of his yard. He was a workaholic and took great pride in his work, whatever it might be. He enjoyed hunting. His favorite thing was riding a Harley with his wife. His greatest love was his family, and he loved taking care of them.

His daughter, Kelly Padgett, also of Holdenville
His grandson, Brayden Choate, of Wewoka
His sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl & James Stinnett, of Holdenville
His nieces, Jamie Stinnett of Ada, and Cortney Scism of Oklahoma City
His best friend, Dean Wilkes, of Holdenville
Various other family members, and many friends
Graveside services will be held and Jimmy will be laid to rest in the Lucas Cemetery south of Wewoka on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Family and friends will meet at Fisher Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. and travel in procession to the cemetery.
Rev. Martin Gustin is the officiating minister. Pallbearers are Jimmy Choate Jr, Dean Wilkes, Lloyd Hunter, Jason Gerard, James Stinnett, and Daryl Cornell.
