Jimmie Evelyn Morris passed away at Holdenville General Hospital on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at the age of 67 years.
Jimmie was the daughter of Ezekiel & Mary Figures, born on August 16, 1943, in Caldwell, Texas. She was brought up and attended schools in the Bryant, Texas area, then in Carverdale, Texas, where she graduated Carverdale High School in 1963. She was married to Charles Morris in July, 1963 in Carverdale. Jimmie lived in Texas until moving to Holdenville, her home since 2005.
Jimmie was an industrious and creative lady who liked to stay busy. In Texas, she worked many years for the Houston Independent School District, and then in various positions for Target Stores. She loved sewing, flower arranging and cooking, she loved music and singing. She was a licensed evangelist and a faithful member of the Shiloh Baptist Evangelistic Temple Church of God in Christ, where she filled many positions, serving as Assistant Sunday School Teacher and as a member of the Pastor's Aide Committee, Purity President for the Evangelistic Temple, and President of the Sewing Circle for the State of Oklahoma. She loved to sing, and served on the Praise Team, and also as a soloist.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ezekiel & Mary Figures; two sisters, Faye Meyers and Minnie Morris, and one brother, Johnny Figures; two sons, Craig Morris in 2003, and Kenneth Morris in 2009.
She is survived by one son, Darrel Morris and wife Coire, of Holdenville; five grandchildren: DeShawn Morris, Cynard Morris, and DeAndre Santee, all of Houston, and Aidan Morris and Kaylee Morris, both of Holdenville; the father of her children, Charles Morris of Holdenville; three sisters: Margaret, Kay Mackey, and Gloria Brown, and one brother, Julius Figures, all of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 30, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Evangelist Temple COGIC, and Jimmie will be laid to rest at Shiloh Cemetery. Overseer John Berry is the officiating minister.
