Obituary

James David 'Jimmy' Lawson passed away at his home in Allen, Oklahoma on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at the age of 69 years.

Jimmy was the son of Bert & Mary (Marco) Lawson, born on July 23, 1947, in McAlester, Oklahoma, where he was brought up and attended Blue Community School. He worked as a carpenter for many years until suffering a severe injury and becoming physically disabled. His favorite things were fishing, cooking, and gardening, and he loved to tinker with cars.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bert & Mary Lawson, brother Junior Lawson, and sister Frances Cripps.

He is survived by three children: Tara Myers of McAlester, Jesse Beep Thompson, also of McAlester, and Nathen Sallee (Tori) of Durant; four stepchildren: Mary Lands (Jerome), Mona Thomason (A. J.), Andrea Beal, and Antonia Beal, all of McAlester; 19 grandchildren; three sisters: Marie Moore (Eldon) of Oklahoma City, Ellen Blevins of Arpelar, and Nora Ann Stacey (Rowdy) of McAlester; niece Anna Hubbard of Oklahoma City; several other nieces and nephews, various other family members, and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 29, 1:00 p.m. at the Kiamichi Country Cowboy Church in McAlester, and Jimmy was laid to rest in the North Town Cemetery in McAlester. Rev. Mitch Arteberry was the officiating minister. Pallbearers were Tara Myers, Eldon Moore, Jerome Lands, Donnie Lawson, Mike Blevins, and A. J. Thomason. Honorary pallbearers were James Stephens, Jon Myers, Steve Myers, Jeromy Starr, and Jonathan Herandy.
