Obituary

James Dale 'Jimmy' Faulkner passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, at the age of 84 years.

Jimmy was the son of Oscar & Edna Faulkner, born on November 9, 1925, in Lamar, Oklahoma. He was brought up in Holdenville and attended schools in Holdenville. He worked from a young age, and joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 during World War II. He returned to Holdenville following his military service, and married Elsie Mae McGirt on February 14, 1953. They lived in Holdenville, moved to Enid for a while, then returned to Holdenville, their home for more than 40 years.

Jimmy worked as a house painter most of his life, and was well known in Holdenville. He was an artist, and he loved collecting rocks and fossils, loved fishing. He was a member of the Ministry of Life Church in Wewoka.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar & Edna Faulkner; his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Elsie McGirt Faulkner; three sons: Samuel Powell, Gary Faulkner and Larry Faulkner.

He is survived by six children: Danny Faulkner (Susan) of Wewoka, Janie Harjo of Holdenville, Terry Faulkner of Taft, Oklahoma, Tony Faulkner (Ramona) of Tulsa, Teresa Conley (David) of Chickasha, and Ricky Faulkner of Holdenville; three stepchildren: Fred Billy (Mary) of Holdenville, Jimcy McGirt of Helena, Oklahoma, and Lucille Farber of Holdenville; 41 grandchildren and 73 great-grandchildren; various other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 27, 2:00 p.m. at the Ministry of Life Church in Wewoka, and Jimmy will be laid to rest in the Holdenville Cemetery. Rev. Danny Faulkner and Rev. Tony Faulkner are the officiating ministers. Pallbearers are Eric Harjo, Nicholas Faulkner, Brent Harjo, Kevin Farber, Joshua Taylor, Justin Faulkner, and Jamie Powell. Honorary pallbearers are Pete Harjo, John Janes, Marty Kalinich, Bud Ingram, Jerry Brown, Freddie Footracer, Mark Brannon and Jerry Young.
