Iva Lois King passed away in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at the age of 97 years.
Lois was the daughter of Albert & Goldie (Stonboyer) Epperley, born on June 28, 1919 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma, where she was brought up and attended schools. She was married to Orville Amos King in Bowlegs, Oklahoma on September 10, 1938. After living in Sasakwa for a while they moved to Wewoka, to a cabin out on the gas line, and then into the house in the town of Wewoka that was the family home for 57 years. Lois & Orville were blessed with 38 years together before he passed away in 1976.
Lois loved sewing in all its forms, and worked many years in Wewoka for two clothing manufacturing companies, Lillian Russell and Big Yank. She enjoyed participating in community activities and often helped as a precinct worker during elections, or assisted at the VFW. She particularly enjoyed helping with VFW dances. Dancing was one of her favorite things, and in her later years she loved to sit with her granddaughter and watch Dancing With The Stars.
She is preceded in death by her parents Albert & Goldie Epperley; her husband, Orville King; nine siblings; one son, Larry Dale 'Cotton' King.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Loree Hopkins (Eric) of Shawnee, and Alan King (Connie) of Harrah; seven great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Graveside services were held and Lois was laid to rest on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Oklahoma, under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville. www.fisherfh.net
