Grace Helen Lankford passed away in Seminole, Oklahoma on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at the age of 86 years.
Grace was the daughter of Jesse & Grace (Bryant) McKee, born on September 21, 1929, in Quinton, Oklahoma. Her family moved to Seminole when Grace was seven years old. She attended Pleasant Grove Schools, and graduated Pleasant Grove High School with the Class of 1949. She married W. A. 'Banks' Lankford on February 26, 1949 in Seminole, and the two of them moved into a house about half a mile from Grace's childhood home, where they lived their entire lives. After 53 years and four children together, Banks passed away in 2002.
Grace worked as a nurse's aide for 13 years at Pioneer Nursing Home, 15 years at Seminole Hospital, and 8 years at Mission Hill Hospital. She was an Honorary Pink Lady, after serving actively for many years. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Seminole. She loved to sew and cook, and she loved fishing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse & Grace McKee; her husband, W. A. 'Banks' Lankford; one brother, Jimmy McKee, and two sisters, Norma Penuel and Linda Renfrow; one grandson, Jonathan Johnson; one son-in-law, Johnny Johnson.
She is survived by four children: Gary Lankford (Barbara) of Seminole, Vicki Johnson of Seminole, Connie Humphrey (Roger) of Stratford, and Jeff Lankford (Bonnie) of Earlsboro; seven grandchildren: Clay Lankford, Jennifer Lankford, Justin Lankford, Chris Winlock, Jeremy Johnson, Tiffany Case, and Jeremy Ridge; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters, Glenda Raschel of Argyle TX and Judy Fitts of Claremore; one brother, Don McKee, of Seminole; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 24, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Seminole, and Grace was laid to rest in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Rev. Doyle Long was the officiating minister. Pallbearers were Jeremy Ridge, Chris Winlock, Justin Lankford, Clay Lankford, Jeremy Johnson, and Jeremiah Case.
