Glen passed away on December 3, 2016 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 15, 1948 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to M.H. and Sarah (Collis) Lively. He married his high school sweetheart on April 28, 1966 in Pineville, Missouri.

Glen attended Atwood High School his entire youth and graduated with friends from the Class of 1966 although he jokingly said the best 5 years of his life were spent in the 2nd grade. His classmates remember him best as a great baseball player and a friend to many. Even at a young age, he was always a hard worker. During high school, he farmed and raised a truck patch for his father and worked in the peanut fields of his neighbors. In 1965, at the age of 17, he began his first job in road construction and his career continued until 1990 when health issues caused him to retire due to a disability. He worked mainly for Amis Construction and Cherokee Paving Company learning to operate every piece of equipment on the construction crew and running the asphalt plant. He advanced through all the various positions and was serving as General Superintendent when he retired. Glen was also known for his leather crafting ability making leather items (chaps, wallets, belts, etc.) for local friends. Throughout his life, though, Glen was probably most known for his big heart and willingness to help his neighbors. Despite his health obstacles, he made the time for others! He often assisted by helping them with their mechanical issues or offering practical advice and how-to instructions for local projects. He especially enjoyed spending time with children of all ages and was quick to provide locals with a special nickname.

A big part of his life was spent serving the Atwood Community, which he loved dearly. From the very beginning of its creation, he served on the original Board for the Atwood Volunteer Fire Department. He later served as Assistant Fire Chief and helped to establish and operate the fire department's annual consignment auction for 20+ years. He was elected as the first-ever Mayor when the town was incorporated 28 years ago and was still serving in that capacity at the time of his death.

In 2000, he and his sister, Wanda, established Atwood's local Small-Mart named Atwood This 'n That which continued for about 12 years. It quickly became the place for people to stop in, sit and drink a Coke while visiting. Many new friendships were established at the local This 'n That as friends and neighbors would sit and chat.

Initiated at the age of 21, Glen was especially proud of his Masonic heritage becoming a 4th generation Mason. He earned his 32º and was a member of Allen Masonic Lodge #81.

He is preceded in death by his parents, M. H. & Sarah Lively, and brother-in-law Johnny Frederick.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn (Owens) Lively of the home and three children and their spouses: Mike (Kelle) Lively of Shawnee, Cindy (Robby) Adams of Sulphur, and Jim (Sinthia) Lively of Allen. Grandchildren: Dillon, Adam, Cody, Meagan and Heather Lively; Kamryn Adams; Chaeann Fortenberry; and Josh and Jared Carter. Glen is survived by 2 sisters: Wanda Frederick and Joyce Lively of Atwood. He was adored by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, community, neighbors and Masonic Lodge brethren.
