Gerald L. Beeney, age 77, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on June 9, 1948, in Pekin, Illinois, to Tom & Margret (Keeyes) Biggs. He was later adopted and lovingly raised by Murle Beeney.
Gerald proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for seventeen years and later served three years in the National Guard. He also dedicated twenty-three years of service as a firefighter, living a life centered around hard work, service, and caring for others.
Gerald married the love of his life, Jan Jordan, on July 7, 1970, in Hawaii and together they shared fifty-five years of marriage filled with love, family, and devotion. Gerald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who cherished time spent with those he loved most.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Beeney; his daughters, Shelly Manly, Julia Dority, and Elaine Hamilton; his grandchildren: Auston Hamilton, Sydnie Dority, Autumn Yates, Andrew Dority, Tiffany Manly, Victoria Manly, Aydon Hamilton, and Axton Hamilton; as well as two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepfather, and his brother, Brad.
Gerald enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved building birdhouses, caring for farm animals, being outdoors, and spending time with family. Those who knew Gerald will remember his hardworking spirit, his dedication to service, his love for his family, and the quiet strength and kindness he carried throughout his life. His family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace and forever watching over those he loved so deeply.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 21, 2026, 12:00 noon at Atwood Baptist Church, and Gerald will be laid to rest with military honors at Atwood Cemetery. Rev. Darrell Brown is the officiating minister. Pallbearers are Matt Hamilton, Auston Hamilton, Andrew Dority, Aydon Hamilton, Derrick Whitehead, and Chad Nix. Bob Huggins will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Viewing at the funeral home will be Wednesday, May 20, 1:00-8:00pm.
