Obituary

George Edward York Sr. passed away in Oklahoma City on Friday afternoon, April 10, 2015, at the age of 68 years.

George was the son of Curt & Flora (Shearl) York, born on June 3, 1946, in Urbana, Illinois, where he was brought up and attended schools. He joined the U.S. Army and served four years, graduating high school while in the military. He married Marlene Rose on December 6, 1964, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

George lived most of his life in Minnesota, working for the GAF Corporation as a machine operator manufacturing shingles, and also as a cross-country truck driver. He retired in 2007 and moved to Holdenville in 2010. He loved riding Harley motorcycles, fishing, and guns. He was a member of the Lions Club for many years, and was also a HOG member.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Curt & Flora York; four brothers and three sisters; daughter-in-law Amy; grandson Theo.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marlene, of the home; three sons: Anders York of Holdenville, Curtis Lee York of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and George York Jr. of Holdenville; grandson Tony York of Holdenville; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, April 17, 1:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel.
