George Calvin Loman, lifelong Seminole County resident, passed away at his son's home in Haileyville, Oklahoma on Monday, January 24, 2022, at the age of 93 years. Calvin was the son of Chris and Ethel Mae (Halk) Loman, born on May 6, 1928, in the Salem community near Henryetta, Oklahoma. His family moved to Seminole County, where he was brought up and attended the old Butner schools. He joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served for two years in Japan and China. It was during his time in the military, as a teenager aboard a ship headed for China, that he accepted Christ. He married Ellen Joyce Lowe on June 12, 1951, in Van Buren, Arkansas. They were blessed with four children: Ronnie, Joyce, Cathy, and Nancy, and enjoyed 65 years together before Ellen passed away on October 14, 2016. With the exception of a brief time spent in Pond Creek and in New Mexico, Wewoka was their lifelong home. Calvin represented the epitome of the American blue-collar laborer, working in numerous and varied occupations. Operating heavy equipment and tower cranes, and driving all kinds of trucks from semi to cement mixer, he helped to build ponds, flood control dams, and oil refineries. He worked in the oil field and at the glass plant in Henryetta. When he retired, he enjoyed gardening and yardwork, and always grew plenty of okra and tomatoes to share with family and friends. He loved spending time babying his paper shell pecan trees, and watching/feeding birds in the yard with Ellen. He loved watching westerns of any kind, especially John Wayne films. He was a marvelous teller of tall tales, and he loved to argue. His family was the joy of his life, and he loved spending time with them at every opportunity. At the age of 93, he spent joyful moments down on the floor playing with the smallest great grandbabies. He loved with all his heart, and was greatly loved in return.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Ethel Mae Loman; His beloved wife, Ellen, and daughter, Cathy Anne Dodson; four brothers: Leroy 'Curly' Loman, Earl Loman, Ralph 'Joe' Loman, and Haskell Loman.

He is survived by Three children: Ronnie Loman (Connie) of Haileyville, Joyce Morphis (Steve) of Wewoka, and Nancy Wilson (Kenny) of Konawa, and son-in-law Kent Dodson of Bristow; 11 grandchildren: Melissa Burdick (Jade), Clif Loman (Lora), Chris Loman (Mandy), William Loman (Shannan), Brian Morphis (Laura), Mike Morphis (Jennifer), Tim Morphis (Tristina), Erin Dobrinski (Levi), Jeff Dodson (Amy), Tony Dodson (Heather), Lindsey Grela (Jonas); Numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Colleen Fowler of Del City, and Ona Jean Cross of Oklahoma City; a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, 2:00 pm at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel, and Calvin was laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka. Rev. Clif Loman was the officiating minister. Pallbearers were Tony Dodson, Jeff Dodson, Chris Loman, William Loman, Mike Morphis, and Jonas Grela.
