George Paul Brown, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on Lake Eufaula, with his family at his side, on Monday evening, October 10, 2011, at the age of 63 years.
George was the son of Leslie & Gladys (Vass) Brown, born on October 27, 1947, in Ft. Worth, Texas, where he was brought up and attended schools. He married Sharron Kay Bunnell on July 24, 1969, in Ft. Worth, and worked there for many years as a Water Utilities Foreman. The family moved to the town of Hereford in west Texas, and farmed for several years, than moved to Holdenville, where they owned and operated a TV repair shop. They moved to Eufaula in 2000 when George retired, and he went to work driving a truck transporting RVs.
George was a charter member of the Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Holdenville, and helped in the initial remodeling of the building into a beautiful sanctuary. He was a 'fix-it' man, loved to fix things. He loved to travel. Some of his favorite things were watching old Western movies, OU and Dallas Cowboys football, and NASCAR, particularly driver Jeff Gordon. George was much loved and will be sorely missed. His family is forever grateful for the excellent care he received during his illness from Good Neighbor Hospice based in Muskogee, Mary Jo in particular.
George is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Dickinson, and his father, Leslie Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Sharron, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law: Bryan & Angie Brown of McAlester, Robert & Teresa Brown of Wayne, Oklahoma and George Jr. & Heather Brown of Holdenville; 13 grandchildren: Steven Brown, Cory Brown, Brandon Brown, Justin Brown, Jessica Brown, Brittany Mongold, Kristin Brown, Garrett Brown, Austin Brown, Taylor Dewbery, Megan Dewbery, Tiffany Childs and Taylee Childs; five great grandchildren: Audrina, Andon, Jace, Kymbree and Landon; three sisters: Elzora Brown Yates of Burleson, Texas, Marie Smith of Hico, Texas and Sarah Graham of Stephenville, Texas; two brothers, Robert A.
