Gary Wayne Hanson passed away at his home in Holdenville on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at the age of 57 years.

Gary was the son of Norman Hanson & Billie Mable (Curtis) Hanson, born on February 24, 1956, in Hobbs, New Mexico, where he was brought up and graduated high school. He joined the U.S. Navy and served as a corpsman/medic during the Vietnam War.

Gary married Diana Lee Elliott in Lovington, New Mexico on February 23, 1977. He worked in the oilfield in New Mexico for some ten years before moving to Holdenville in 1987, where he worked in the oilfield and in construction cleanup. The family moved to the Oklahoma City area in 1999, and Gary worked as Assistant Manager for the Homeland store in Del City. They returned to Holdenville in December of 2012.

Gary loved being outdoors, and his favorite things were camping and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman & Billie Hanson.

He is survived by his wife, Diana, of the home; four children: Kelly Barnes of Oklahoma City, Gary Don Hanson, Crystal Lee Hanson, and Robert Brian Hanson, all of Holdenville; eight grandchildren: Taron Barnes, Savanna Barnes, Jaiden Barnes, Bailey Scott, Cody Hanson, Autumn Hanson, Eli Hanson, and Jewl Hanson; two sisters, Sharon Guy of Sahrita, Arizona, and Sandy Todd of Tucson, Arizona, and one brother, Kelton Hanson, of Hobbs, New Mexico; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Hanson home located at 1104 South Broadway in Holdenville.
