Gary Gene Britton passed away in Ada, Oklahoma on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at the age of 65 years.
Gary was the son of Clyde & Theodora (DeHass) Britton, born on November 18, 1949, in Oklahoma City, where he was brought up and attended Capitol Hill Schools. He married Eugenia Clawson on September 1, 1967, in Denton, Texas. They lived in Oklahoma City until moving to Holdenville, their home since 1974. Gary worked for 35 years on the freight docks in Oklahoma City, retiring in 1996. He loved sports, particularly baseball, football, and basketball, and was an avid OU fan. He also enjoyed raising race horses.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde & Theodora Britton.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eugenia, of the home; daughter Barbara Jean Holland (Lee) of Bethany; two brothers, David Britton (Lola) of Sandy, Utah, and Michael Britton (Elaine) of Long Valley, New Jersey; three sisters: Sandra Collum (Charlie), Debbie Cain (Dick), and Anna Kay Elkins, all of Oklahoma City; mother-in-law Annabelle Clawson of Bethany; nieces and nephews, various other family members, and many friends.
Gary will be laid to rest in the Holdenville Cemetery, following graveside services in the Holdenville Cemetery Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015. Mr. Ron Hunter will officiate. Pallbearers will be Steve Parish, Mike Padgett, Joe Cantrell, Jay Thompson, Randy Merriman, and Robert Merriman. Honorary pallbearers are Lee Holland and Steve Carter.
