Franklin David 'Tim' McDonald, Calvin resident, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015. He was born January 31, 1937 to Bill and Emma McDonald.
Tim joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17 and served nine years. After leaving the military, he was immediately scooped up by Lockheed Martin Aerospace Company as an aircraft engineer and electronics specialist. He later worked as a civilian contractor to Edwards Air Force Base and was sent to military bases all around the world to repair, install and redesign the electrical and electronics systems on most modern cutting-edge aircraft.
After retiring, he lived in Selma, California for a number of years. He came to Calvin to visit family and friends and became reacquainted with Jerry Mae Bennett Brand. Not long afterward, he moved back to Calvin and married her.
Tim loved flying planes and one time even built his own. He loved animals and children and couldn't stand to see any one mistreat them. He was also a voracious reader and loved to watch the History and Western channels.
