Frances Ann Long passed away at her home in Holdenville on Sunday afternoon, November 2, 2014, at the age of 62 years.
Frances was the daughter of Nathan Long Sr. & Cindy (McGeeley) Long, born on October 24, 1952, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where she was brought up and attended schools. She graduated Holdenville High School in 1972, and went to work for Yeager Schools for a short while. She worked thirty-one years for Holdenville Schools, as Teachers' Aide and JOM Coordinator, and retired in 2002.
Frances loved being outdoors, and enjoyed just about any outside activity, including mowing the lawn. Her favorite thing was past-pitch softball, she loved to play and was a very good pitcher. She was also a devoted fan of the Oklahoma Thunder, and loved watching them play. She was an active and enthusiastic member of Salt Creek Methodist Church, where she served for a time as treasurer, and she was a faithful regular to Salt Creek's annual Wild Onion Dinner. She served three terms on the board of the Indian Community Center, and also as an Elderly Nutrition Site volunteer. She was a kind and caring person, and she will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan & Cindy Long, and one sister, Cynthia Long.
She is survived by two brothers, Donald Long and Nathan 'Dozer' Long Jr., both of Holdenville; two sisters, Nancy Long of the home and Martha Long of Holdenville; one niece, Joni Long of the home, and two nephews, Timothy Long (Sarah) of Calvin, and Stephen Giles of Holdenville; three great nephews: Aiden Giles of Holdenville, Jedidiah Long of Calvin, and Cody Long, of the home; various other family members, many friends, and her cherished dog, Booger.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 3:30 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel, with Rev. Kelly Tiger Jr. officiating.
