Obituary

Elva Elsie 'Pete' Manley passed away in Midwest City, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at the age of 99 years.
Pete was the daughter of James Shelton 'Shep' McCoy & Rosa Mae (Campbell) McCoy, right in the middle of their eleven children. She was born on June 27, 1920, in Lamar, Oklahoma, where she was brought up and attended schools while helping with the raising of her younger siblings. She was married to Sidney C. Manley on October 4, 1941, in Holdenville.  They made their home in Seminole, where they owned and operated Sid's Magneto Shop for 29 years, from 1964 to 1993. The family business continued following Sid's death on June 17, 1979. Pete also worked three days a week for 20 years at Parks Drug Store, and 32 years for Sooner Drug, from 1976 to 2008, when she retired and moved to Holdenville. She often said she "spent most of her life taking care of sick folks," including two sons she lost at a young age. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Seminole.
Pete is preceded in death by her parents, James 'Shep' & Rosa McCoy; her husband, Sid Manley; two sons, Larry Manley and Lynn Manley; one sister, Marie Applegate, and eight brothers: Homer Lee, Bill, Jim, Tom, George 'Sonny', John, Joel, and Kelsa McCoy.
She is survived by one son, Doug Manley, of Norman; two grandsons, Scott Manley (Dawn) of Chouteau, and Steven Twist of Florida; four great-grandchildren: Zachary Twist, Alyssa Twist, Matthew Manley, and Sierra Manley; one brother, Jack McCoy (Colleen) of Holdenville, and one sister, Stella Davis (Norman) of Seminole; a host of nieces and nephews, numerous other family members, and many friends.
Graveside services were held and Pete was laid to rest on Monday, July 22, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery east of Seminole, with Gary Jennings officiating.
