Elton Theodore Patton passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Holdenville General Hospital at the age of 81 years.
Elton was born October 4, 1929, in Marriville, Louisiana, to Ovie Myselle & Wilda (Kennedy) Myselle. He was brought up in Texas City, Texas and graduated from high school there. He joined the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and earned various medals serving in Special Ops. Following his military service he lived in St. Thomas , Virgin Islands, where he owned and operated a heavy equipment, sand and gravel company, and built all of the docks and seaports. He later lived for a while in Montana gold mining, and was living in Florida before relocating with family to Wewoka in 2008. He had been a resident of Heritage Village Nursing Home in Holdenville since early 2010.
Elton was a minister of the Pentecostal faith, and loved to read and study the Bible. He also enjoyed working on old equipment, and had an excavation business.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dean Patton, and one brother, Jerry Patton; three sons: Tommy Shaw, Bobby Rennecker and Billy Patton.
He is survived by three daughters: Deborah Sherrouse and husband Dale, of Sasakwa, Cathy Rompf and husband Ralph, of Wewoka, Mary Triplett of Tennessee; nine grandchildren: Curtis Rompf of Wewoka, Brian Rompf of Lakeland, Florida, Jennifer Jacquot and Joey Jacquot, both of Tennessee, Bobbie Jo Taylor and husband Aaron of Wewoka, James Wilkinson, Justin Wilkinson, Marie Wilkinson, and Kenneth Sherrouse, all of Sasakwa; niece Stephanie Detwiler; four great-grandchildren: Jannah, Kelsey, Adrian and Brianna; one brother, Melvin 'Cotton' Patton of Alvin, Texas; as well as the mother of his children, Geraldine Nipper of Wewoka; numerous other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 10, 2:00 p.m. at Lillye Chapel, Fisher Funeral Home. Rev. J.D. Wyzard is the officiating minister.
