Obituary

Ellen Joyce Loman passed away in Oklahoma City on Friday, October 14, 2016, at the age of 84 years.

Ellen was the daughter of James Robert Lowe & Ora Pearl (Powers) Lowe, born on September 11, 1932, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended schools in Wewoka, and graduated Wewoka High School with the Class of 1950. She was married to George Calvin Loman in Van Buren, Arkansas, on June 12, 1951.With the exception of a brief time in Pond Creek and later in New Mexico, Wewoka was their lifetime home. They were blessed with four children: Ronnie, Joyce, Cathy, and Nancy.

Ellen worked at various occupations, including telephone operator, Edna Looney's craft kits in Wewoka, and for many years as a clerk at Moore's IGA grocery store in Wewoka. She enjoyed puzzles - jigsaw, crossword, and word search. She was creative and talented, loved to crochet and paint, and created hundreds of useful and beautiful things in various forms of arts and crafts. She attended Mission Home Baptist Church. Her family was the joy of her life, and she loved spending time with them at every opportunity. She loved with all her heart, and was greatly loved in return.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James & Ora Lowe; her daughter, Cathy Anne Dodson; two brothers, Glendon Lowe, on D-Day in World War II, and Arvil Lowe; two sisters, Ora Lee Boland, and infant Marie Lowe.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Calvin, of the home; three children: George Ronald 'Ronnie' Loman (Connie) of Haileyville, Joyce Morphis (Steve) of Wewoka, and Nancy Wilson (Kenny) of Konawa; eleven grandchildren: Melissa Burdick (Jade) of Haskell, Clif Loman (Lora) of Tahlequah, Chris Loman (Mandy) of Haileyville, Rusty Loman (Shannan) of Muskogee, Brian Morphis (Laura) of Wewoka, Michael Morphis (Jennifer) of Boswell, Tim Morphis (Tristina) of McAlester, Erin Dobrinski (Levi) of Bristow, Jeff Dodson (Amy) of Sand Springs, Tony Dodson (Heather) of Fort Smith AR, and Lindsey Engel (Robert) of Fort Worth TX; thirty-one great granchildren, and one great great granddaughter; one brother, Winfred 'Wimp' Lowe (Juanita) of Seminole, and one sister, Nell Shadid of Elk City; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016, at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel, and Ellen was laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka. Services were officiated by Ellen's son, Ronnie, along with her grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons Clif Loman, Chris Loman, Rusty Loman, Brian Morphis, Michael Morphis, Tim Morphis, Jeff Dodson, and Tony Dodson. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons-in-law Jade Burdick, Levi Dobrinski, and Robert Engel.
