Obituary

Elizabeth Ann 'Betty' Bridges Cochran passed away in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the age of 82 years.

Betty was the daughter of John Thomas Stubblefield & Margaret (O'Brien) Stubblefield, born in Holdenville, Oklahoma on February 8, 1935. She was brought up in the Holdenville and Hulsey communities, and attended Hulsey and Moss schools. She was married to Bobby Gene Bridges in 1950, and they were blessed with two sons. They made their home in Calvin and various other places in Hughes County, and enjoyed 34 years together before Bobby passed away on December 10, 1984. Betty was married in 1991 to Bill Cochran, and moved to Arbuckle Lake. Mr. Cochran also preceded her in death, on April 25, 2001.

Betty was a talented, creative, and energetic lady. She loved to paint and work on any art or craft project, and one of her favorite things was making and selling dream catchers. She owned and operated an art gallery in Davis, Oklahoma for two years, and a retail Army supply store in Sulphur for six years. She loved horses, and she loved to rodeo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John & Margaret Stubblefield; two husbands, Bobby Gene Bridges and Bill Cochran; one brother, Thomas Stubblefield, and two sisters, Patricia Adair and Wanda Booher.

She is survived by three children: Steve Bridges (Linda) of Yeager, Mike Thomas (Jodi) of Wewoka, and Max Cochran (Paula) of Mobile, Alabama; five grandchildren: Stephanie Cornell (Dennis) of Yeager, Johnny Bridges of Shawnee, Jennifer Bridges (Patrick Harris), Elizabeth Bridges, and Kara Bridges, all of Holdenville; thirteen great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, 3:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel, and Betty was laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery. Rev. John Berry was the officiating minister. Pallbearers were Jason Watts, Benjamin Woolley, Dennis Cornell, Patrick Harris, Tommy Gustin, and Tony Wulf. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Madden, Gary Carnes, and Randy Hollingshead.
