Elgin D. Mooney was born on August 26, 1925, in Izard County, Arkansas, to William Robert Mooney & Mary Frances (Reeves) Mooney. He was brought up in Hughes County, Oklahoma, and moved to California in the 1940s. He married Wanda Weeks in Laton, California on December 20, 1950. They returned to live in Hughes County in 1971. Mr. Mooney worked for some time in the oilfields, and also as a business owner. He was retired.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Mooney, of the home; his son, Mark Mooney and wife Lynn, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two daughters, Linda Clark and Patsy Mooney, both of Holdenville; three grandchildren: Richard Mooney, Carie Clark and David Clark.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 6, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at the First Church of God in Holdenville, and Mr. Mooney will be laid to rest in the Holdenville Cemetery. Rev. Jon Ewers is the officiating minister. Pallbearers are Mark Brannon, Mike Henry, David Rogers, Wendell Dilday, Orville Rose and Chuck Simmons. Honorary pallbearers are Ernest Moore, Bob Riddle, Glen Paslay, Tommy Summy and Howard Upchurch.

Services are under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Holdenville.
