'Sonny' Coker

Edmond Lee 'Sonny' Coker passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, at the age of 80 years.
'Sonny' was the son of Lawrence Charles Coker & Elizabeth Lucille (Dunson) Coker, born on June 11, 1942, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was brought up in the Pecan Grove area and attended Pecan Grove schools through the eighth grade, and graduated Haskell Indian High School in Lawrence, Kansas in 1961. He married Cora Lee McCombs in 1961 and together they had six children, three sons and three daughters. They made their home in Tulsa and Wagoner. Edmond worked for many years as a plumber. He moved to Wewoka in 1974 and to Holdenville in 1987, before making his permanent home in Pawhuska. Some of his favorite things were hunting, fishing, and golfing. He enjoyed collecting coins and making bows out of bois de arc. He loved spending time with his family, and his grandchildren were the light of his life. He attended Salt Creek Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence & Elizabeth Coker; son Barry Coker in 2008; aunt Betty Tiger, and nephew Gordon McKane.
He is survived by five children: Sherry Gray (Chris) of Virginia, Terry Coker (Christine) of Wagoner, Jeri Boyd (Ben) of Seminole, Edmond Lee Coker Jr of Wewoka, Lynn Hughes (Steve) of Barnsdall; seventeen grandchildren: Keila Mayfield, Eric Campbell, Khouri Campbell, Laci Coker, Kaci Coker, Bretta Coker, Ashley Keys, Natasha O'Loughlin, Nikki Boyd, Hailey Boyd, Jericho Coker, Whitney Coffman, Gage Hughes, Brooke Coker, Trask Coker, Caitlin Rickner, and Taylor Coker; 38 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis McKane of Yeager and Delpha Morgan of Tulsa; one brother, Augus Torres (Paula) of Wagoner; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Memorial service were held on Friday, October 7, 2022, 1:00pm at Fisher Funeral Home-Lillye Chapel, with Rev. Frank Moppin officiating.
Viewing at the funeral home was Thursday, October 6, 2:00pm-6:00pm.
