Eddie Screechowl

Eddie Screechowl was born July 31, 1941, in Wilson, Oklahoma to Raymond & Annoche (Randall) Screechowl. He passed away in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at the age of 81 years.
Eddie was a truck driver for Affiliated Foods in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Upon retirement he dedicated his time to fishing, hunting, spending time with family, and creating Native American arts and crafts. Twenty-nine years ago he started carving ballsticks and teaching ballstick making classes at the Muscogee Nation Festivals and Seminole Nation Days. He was a member of the Wewoka United Methodist Indian Church in Yeager. He served in the U.S. Army from November 18, 1963 to October 9, 1965 and obtained the rank of Specialist 4.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Annoche Screechowl.
He is survived by four children: daughter Kendra Claybrook of Tulsa, son Eddie Screechowl Jr of Alva, daughter Carmelita Ford of Owasso, and son Travis Screechowl, also of Owasso; eleven grandchildren: Taren Racine Screechowl, Justin Colby Screechowl, Jeffrey Wade Bowles, Nicholas Howell, Talon Micco Claybrook, Savannah Screechowl, Cora Screechowl, Alyssa Screechowl, Charlie Ford, Cierra Screechowl, and Samantha Screechowl; ten great grandchildren; other family members and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 8, 2023, 10:00am at the Wewoka United Methodist Indian Church in Yeager, and Eddie was laid to rest at the Jimboy Family Cemetery north of Holdenville, with Rev. David Dunson officiating. Pallbearers were Eddie Screechowl, Travis Screechowl, Talon Claybrook, Jeffrey Bowles, Justin Screechowl, and Justin Screechowl. Honorary pallbearers were Riley Screechowl, Charlie Ford, Aiden Mickle, and Aaron Mickle.
Wake service was held on Friday, April 7, 2023, 7:00pm at Wewoka United Methodist Indian Church.
