Obituary

Doyle Eugene Wingo passed away in Holdenville on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the age of 92 years.

Doyle is the son of Vernon Albert 'Stud' Wingo & Cora (Coppedge) Wingo, born on September 29, 1933, in the Jackson community west of Holdenville, Oklahoma. He attended schools in Jackson and Spaulding. He joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed mostly in Germany. He married Patsy Parsons on April 14, 1957, in Holdenville. They lived for one year in California and for two years in Okmulgee, where Doyle attended Okmulgee Tech and became a certified auto mechanic, then returned to Holdenville where they made their lifelong home. Doyle worked for various mechanics and car dealerships before owning and operating his own business, Wingo's Garage. He retired from mechanic work after several years, and for a couple of years drove a propane truck for Foster Propane. After that he worked thirteen years on what he considered his favorite job, driving for Home Gas Company in Calvin, visiting with folks all over the county. One of his favorite things was spending time at Bobbie's Restaurant in Holdenville, usually three times a day. He loved watching college basketball, and attending Moss School activities where both his sons were involved.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon & Cora Wingo; seven siblings: Betty Wingo, J. B. Wingo, Nadine Roberts, Vernon 'Nook' Wingo Jr, Johnny Neal Wingo, Hardy Wingo, and infant Joy Sue.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Patsy Wingo, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dave & Brenda Wingo of Spaulding, and Jeffery & Margaret Wingo of Eugene, Missouri; two grandchildren, Brandy Hartley (Patrick) of Kaufman TX, and Amanda Phillips (Riley) of Linn Creek MO; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Quinn; three brothers: Dennis Wingo (Jewel) of Lone Grove, Volley Wingo of Healdton, and Sonny Wingo (Barbara) of Hot Springs Village AR; one sister, Phyllis Byerly of Yukon; nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
