Doyle Gene Garrett died peacefully at home at the age of 73, Wednesday, June 27, 2012, after a year-long battle with lung cancer.
He was preceded in death by his father, W. A. Garrett, and his mother, Oral Hettie (Parks) Garrett; one daughter, Stacy Martinez; two sisters, Brenda Garrett and Linda Carl.
He spent his boyhood in New Model, Oklahoma, before joining the Navy. He settled in San Lorenzo, California, and worked as a pipe fitter. He owned his own pipe fitting company before deciding to retire and return home to Oklahoma. He enjoyed working the ranch and his cattle. In his spare time he enjoyed competition shooting, hunting, and fishing.
He leaves his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Terri (John) Hemenes; grandchildren: Jessica, Ryan, Samantha, Lauryn, Haley, Johnny, Eric, and Alexandria; great grandson, Roman; stepson Robert (Stacy) Humes; stepdaughter Janelle (Chuck) Maes; grandchildren: Kevin, Ian, Donovan, C. J., and Hayden.
He will be dearly missed by all. His final wish is to be cremated with no services.
