Dorothy Jean Williams passed away in Norman, Oklahoma on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the age of 87 years.
Dorothy is the daughter of Chester & Erna (Lankford) Mullins, born on June 30, 1936, in Allen, Oklahoma. She was brought up and attended schools in the Holdenville area, and graduated Holdenville High School with the Class of 1954. Following graduation she worked in Oklahoma City for the phone company, and lived for a brief time in California. She was married to Robert 'Red' Williams on August 13, 1965, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and was busy raising their children when Red passed away in 1995, after thirty years together. After Red's passing, Dorothy attended Wes Watkins Vo Tech in Wetumka and completed LPN training in late 1995. She worked for several years as an LPN for Seminole Estates Nursing Home in Seminole, Heritage Village Nursing Center in Holdenville, and Creek Nation Hospital in Okemah. Shortly after retiring in 2010, she lived for several years with her daughter in San Antonio, Texas, and then returned to Oklahoma in 2016 to live in Norman with her son. She was a longtime member of the Capitol Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Holdenville and transferred her membership to Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Norman. Her favorite thing was reading. She enjoyed reading Danielle Steele novels, and particularly her Bible.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester & Erna Mullins; her husband of thirty years, Red Williams; six brothers: Ronnie Mullins, Jack Mullins, William Mullins, Frank Mullins, Wilburn Mullins and Bob Mullins; two sisters, Wilma McDaniel and Joyce Donahoe.
She is survived by three children, Lise Hillhouse of San Antonio TX, Tanna Williams of Ada, and Roy Williams (Shelli) of Norman; six grandchildren: Ashlee Lehman (Tony), Lindsey Villanueva (Greg), Jacob Hillhouse (Kayla), and Kelsie Woodard (Chris), Zakkary Williams, and Tyler Williams; twelve great grandchildren: Baylee, Emily, Carson, Riley, Everlie, Presley, Logan, Ella, Brooks, Stella, Parker, and Peyton; two sisters, June Jones of San Antonio TX and Patsy Cline of Lewisville TX; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, January 12, 2024, 1:00pm at Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Norman, with Rev. R. L. Clark officiating. Pallbearers were Tony Lehman, Jacob Hillhouse, Zakk Williams, Tyler Williams, Chris Woodard, Greg Villanueva, and Travis Black. Committal service followed and Dorothy was laid to rest at 4:00pm at Holdenville Cemetery.
