Dorothy Sue Green passed away at Boyce Manor Nursing Home in Holdenville on Monday afternoon, July 26, 2010, at the age of 73 years.
Dorothy was the daughter of John Duke Henderson & Icie Corene (Hayes) Henderson, born on November 30, 1936, in Atwood, Oklahoma. She was brought up in Atwood, attended Holdenville schools, and was a 1955 graduate of Holdenville High School. She was married to Elmer Green on January 11, 1958, at the First Assembly of God Church in Holdenville. She lived in Holdenville most of her adult life, and was a nurse's aide at Holdenville General Hospital for many years.
Dorothy was a lady of varied interests. She loved fishing, her favorite places were at Eufaula and Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She enjoyed spending time in Branson, Missouri. She loved reading and owned hundreds of books, and she collected lighthouses. She was a long-time member of the First Assembly of God Church in Holdenville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Duke & Corene Henderson; her beloved husband of forty years, Elmer Green, on April 27, 1998; one brother, Leroy Henderson.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenny & Amanda Green, and their children, Joshua and Elissa; one sister, Jean Camp, of Atwood; several nieces and nephews, various other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 29, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Holdenville, and Dorothy will be laid to rest in the Atwood Cemetery. Pastor Allen Lewis is the officiating minister.
