Dorothy Jane Cook passed away in Holdenville on Saturday, December 2, 2023, two days before her 87th birthday.

Dorothy is the daughter of George Forrest Ball & Ethel Ruth (Bailey) Ball, born on December 4, 1936 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where she was brought up and attended schools. She was a member of the Elkette Drill Team while in high school, and a highlight of her youth was traveling and performing with them in Washington DC. She graduated Holdenville High School with the Class of 1954. She married James Cook on October 17, 1957 in Holdenville, where they made their lifelong home. Dorothy was a devoted and contented Homemaker. She loved her home. She loved reading her Bible, cooking and baking. She loved her family, and her greatest joy was taking care of her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George & Ethel Ball; her son Doug Cook, in 2016, and grandson Yevgheny Edwards, in 2019; brother Kenneth Ball, half-sister Mae Laverne Conrad, and half-brother George F. Ball Jr; two brothers-in-law, Bill Cook and Bob Cook, and sister-in-law Eva Belle Ferguson.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, James Cook, of the home; two children: son Arthur Cook (Neoma) and daughter Ramona Edwards (Robert) of Huntsville AL; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sister Jo Horne of Holdenville; daughter-in-law Susan Lewis, of Holdenville; two sisters-in-law, Fran Cook of Holdenville and Donna Cook of Davenport IA; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 6, 2020, 10:00am at Holdenville Church of the Nazarene, and Dorothy was laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery with Rev. Dane Robinson officiating.
