Doretta Sue
Turpin
October 15, 1940 – July 7, 2022
Doretta was born on October 15, 1940 to Johnnie and Ollie Condreay in Atwood, Oklahoma. She was the youngest sister to Phillip Condreay and Virginia Ann (Condreay) Herron.
Doretta went to school and graduated Valedictorian at Atwood where she had met lifelong friends and even a couple who even ended up being her sisters in law (Jimmie Nell and Joyce).
This is where she was when she saw her soulmate, Paul. She was at the ballfields any chance she had, when she wasn't playing softball, to watch him play and in December of 1959 they were married and started their lives together forever. In 1960, they had their first baby, Michael. Unfortunately Michael passed away when he was two, and together their love for each other kept them strong and unbreakable. Brent was born in July of 1964 and they lived up on the hill not far from where they built their dream home. Doretta went to college at East Central in Ada and started her teaching career that lasted well over 40 years. Kim came along in April of 1975 and completed their family. Paul and Doretta were surrounded by family and friends their entire lives and wouldn't have had it any other way. They had a love that carried them through the best and worst times. In 2001, their first grandson, Nash, was born and in 2003, Tyler came along and they took on the true role of grandparents where nothing else mattered. They both absolutely adored the boys. The boys absolutely adored their grandpa and grandma too!
Being a teacher, Doretta not only had her own kids she had hundreds more throughout the years. She rarely forgot a name when she saw them over the years and always remembered at least one story from her time in the classroom with each one. Some say she had favorites, but really she loved each and every kid she had, from the ones who shared her love of English and reading to the ones who spit spitballs on the ceiling and laughed at her when she got too mad or said something she probably shouldn't have, she honestly loved every kid that ever walked thru those hallways at Tushka, Stuart and Calvin.
Doretta leaves behind her kids Brent Turpin, and Kim Streater and grandsons, Nash and Tyler Streater. Her sister in laws Shirley Ellis, Joyce Turpin, Margaret Livingston and Roger, Jimmie Nell Turpin and Paulene Johnson and Jerry. Her love and memories will be cherished and stay here with us all forever.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Ollie Condreay; Brother Phillip and sister in law Betty and nephew John; Sister Virginia Herron and brother in law Floyd; Nephew Wesley Herron; brothers and sisters in law James and Thelma, Leon and Myrtle, Elvin and Iva, Ruth and Dale, Loyd and Kathleen; brothers in law, Gene and Ralph, and Virgil; her bestfriend Charlene; and her beloved husband Paul and son Micheal Paul.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, 2:00 p.m. at the Stuart Church of Christ, and Doretta was laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery with Chris Rampy as the officiating minister. Pallbearers were Steven Crawford, Kenneth Hokit, Tony Wellington, LeDon Turpin, Shelley Turpin, Greg Turpin, Tuff Sallaska, and Mark Bulen.
