Obituary

Donna Kay Harjo passed away in Oklahoma City on Monday, April 10, 2023, at the age of 62 years.

Donna was the daughter of Clemmie Harjo Sr & Stella Mae (George) Harjo, born on February 3, 1961, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was brought up in Holdenville, and graduated Moss High School with the Class of 1979. She worked for Seamprufe Corporation in Holdenville, and attended Gordon Cooper Technology Center in Shawnee for Medical Secretary training. She traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico for further training and was there for only one week when she received a call concerning a job opening at Indian Health Services in Wewoka. She returned to Oklahoma and accepted that position, and for twenty-seven years worked at Indian Health Services as a dentist receptionist/secretary; she was employed there at the time of her passing.

Donna and older brother Virgil once purchased tennis rackets with the intention of trying out a physically challenging sport, but Donna preferred more relaxing activities. She loved to read, watch TV Westerns (especially the black & white version of Gunsmoke), and liked to fish occasionally. She was a member of Many Springs Baptist Church, where she was baptized in 2010.

Donna is preceded in death by her mother, Stella Mae Harjo in 2006, and her father, Clemmie Harjo Sr in 2008; two brothers, Clemmie Harjo Jr in 2011, and Vincent Harjo in 2013.

She is survived by two brothers, Virgil Harjo and Thomas M. Harjo, both of Holdenville; three aunts: Nora Tiger and Nellie Baldwin, both of Holdenville, and Lucille Harrison of Seminole; one uncle, Henry Factor of Holdenville; numerous cousins, other family members, and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, 1:00pm at the Nazarene Church in Holdenville, and Donna was laid to rest at Harjo Family Cemetery east of Holdenville, with Rev. Dan Factor officiating. Pallbearers were Eric George, Brian Factor, Matthew Renfrow, Leo Fish, Bobby Buck, and Moses Isham. Honorary pallbearers were Kenney Chambers, Gene Chambers, Benny Hester, Mico Kalinich, Dean Goforth, Chris Goforth, Henry Factor, Gabe George, Glen Isham, Mike Johnson, Harper Givens, and Brian Chambers.
