Obituary

Donald Wayne Robertson passed away in Wewoka, Oklahoma on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the age of 73 years.

Don was the son of J. E. & Gladys (Saxon) Robertson, born on October 1, 1944, in Seminole, Oklahoma. He was brought up and attended schools in Hugo, and lived most of his life in the Hugo area. He married Darlene Johnson on April 10, 1963, in Ashdown, Arkansas. He worked many years for the Pepsi Cola Company, and helped his father-in-law with his cattle. He drove a truck hauling rock for Red River Trucking Company, and began over the road driving in the late 1980s. He and Darlene moved to Seminole in 1990. After 52 years together, Darlene passed away on January 18, 2015.

Don was a member of the Hugo CB Club, where his handle was "Weekend Hippie". He had a fondness for fast vehicles and motorcycles, and was once presented an award by a Honda dealership in Paris, Texas for the most motorcycles purchased in one year. He loved cooking and was always ready for a get together so everyone could gather in to eat and visit, play dominoes and cards. He always made sure there were things to entertain any and all the kids that came, too. He loved driving, and was always ready to load up the car and get on the road. He was a fun and favorite uncle so there were always nieces and nephews waiting to go along, and his rule of thumb was, "If you can fit, you can go." There are now a number of grownups with fond childhood memories of packing an impressive number of kids in Uncle Don's car for a fun road trip. He will be remembered with great affection, and will always be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Darlene; his parents, J. E. & Gladys Robertson; one sister, Geraldine Kean, and four brothers: J. L. Robertson, Jackie Ervin Robertson, Randy L. Robertson, and Terry Lloyd Robertson.

He is survived by one son, Donald Lee Robertson (Donna) of Chickasha, and two daughters, Marlene Harjo (John) of Seminole, and Shelia Horn (Blake) of Stringtown; thirteen grandchildren: Brittany Robertson, Kateland Kirkpatrick, Josh Pettit, Tyanne Bogle, Samantha Roney, Hunter Harjo, Shyla Harjo, Tate Caldwell, Gideon Caldwell, Tera Self, Dawson Horn, Jaylen Horn, and Ashton Horn; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy Dale Robertson (Donna) of Hugo, and five sisters: Glenda K. Kelsey (John) of Amber, Carol Palmer of Seminole, Joyce 'Cathy' Jones (Paul) of Sasaskwa, Brenda Moody (Edwin) of Bowlegs, and Barbara Bible (Jack) of Okemah; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, and Don was laid to rest at Wolf Cemetery, with Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Don's grandchildren served as pallbearers.
