Obituary

David Reece Perkins passed away in Seminole, Oklahoma on Friday, December 2, 2022, at the age of 72 years.

David was the son of Edwin Cope Perkins & Dorotha Lee (Dittemore) Perkins, born on October 28, 1950, in Alice, Texas. He was brought up and attended schools in Alice until age 14, when he moved with his family to Ada, Oklahoma. He graduated Ada High School and attended several college courses. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on May 20, 1970 and stationed in Berlin. He earned the rank of Sergeant on February 18, 1971, and also earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Occupation Medal before his discharge into the reserves on December 6, 1971. He returned to Ada and worked with his father at his vacuum repair shop. He married Patricia Ann Kay on June 25, 1980. They made their home in Ada, where David owned and operated Perkins Repair until he retired in 2005.

David had many varied talents and interests. He specialized in vacuum, sewing machine, and clock repair, but could fix anything with an electrical cord. He was an artist, gifted at painting, drawing, working with fiberglass and wood. He particularly enjoyed creating beautifully handcrafted clocks and stagecoaches out of wood. He loved cooking enchiladas for family and friends. He attended Believers Fellowship of Ada, and also Dr. Mettry's Sunday School Class. Following his retirement, he took care of his dad and was caregiver for others as well. He was much loved and will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin & Dorotha Perkins, and his sister, Karen Pierce.

He is survived by his wife, Patty, of Ada; four children: Tammi Walkup of Ada, Phillip Perkins (Sissy) of Maud, Micah Perkins of Ada, and Jacob Perkins (Joanna) of Ada; six grandchildren: Jared Perkins (Haley) of Ada, Kaitlynn Philpot (Blake) of Purcell, Garrett Schroeder and Ava Schroeder, both of Ada, Kendall Perkins of Maud, and Emma Perkins of Keller TX; two great grandchildren, Elyse Perkins of Ada, and Magnolia Philpot of Purcell; nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
