Dave Caudill passed away at his home in Holdenville on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at the age of 57 years.
Dave was the son of Everett & Beulah (Green) Caudill. He was born on January 16, 1957, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where he grew up and attended schools, graduating Holdenville High School with the class of 1975. He married Marcia Jackson on April 11, 1980, and they were blessed with two daughters, Cara and Mindy. With the exception of a few years in Las Vegas, Nevada, they made their home in the Holdenville area all their lives.
Dave was a gifted musician, and played drums for various bands, locally and across the state of Oklahoma, and for national bands during the time he lived in Las Vegas. He played guitar and bass, too, with the ease of natural ability. He was also a very talented artist, and loved to draw. He had a love of learning, and enjoyed the challenge of taking on projects for which he didn't have that much natural ability. He loved working on cars and wasn't satisfied to just repair or restore, he wanted to learn the mechanics, and the function and purpose of all parts and components.
He worked as an interior/exterior house painter and was meticulous in his work, always aiming to provide his customers with the best quality job as economically as possible. He highly valued education, regularly stressing its importance to his daughters, and in 2005 earned his Associate's Degree in Science, graduating Seminole State College along with his two girls. He attended East Central University in Ada for two semesters, giving it up when his wife became seriously ill. After thirty years together, Marcia passed away on November 7, 2010.
Dave was the kind of man who had compassion for any and all, always happy to help anyone he could, always putting others' needs before his own. He loved his family, loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, and loved visiting with extended family, especially jam sessions when they were all together. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing, bass fishing in particular. He enjoyed hunting deer, both rifle and bow hunting, and loved shooting handguns. He died suddenly in a handgun accident, while enjoying one of his very favorite things. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Everett Caudill, and his mother, Beulah Anthony; two brothers, Troy Caudill and Jerry Caudill.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cara Cox of the home, and Mindy Caudill of Holdenville, and by three grandchildren: Cara's sons Travis Cox and Eli Cox, and Mindy's child on the way; his stepfather, Ronald Anthony of Holdenville; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church, with Michael Hamilton officiating.
