Obituary

Curtis Lee Baker, 77, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at his home in Oklahoma City.

He leaves his wife of almost 47 years, Sharon (Blaylock) Baker; his children: Sharilee Strickland and husband Bela, of Holdenville, Robert Jones and wife Diana, of Calvin, Rex Jones and wife Gena, of Ada, Iris Sullivan of Salina, California, Violet Baker, and Curtis Leroy Baker and wife, all of Fresno, California; his grandchildren: Annie Bower and husband Travis, Shanna Smith and husband Craig, Kevin Flynn, Alex Thompson and husband Jeremiah, Rowdy Jones, Felisha Ring, Katelyn Ring and Cameron Martin, Joshua Strickland; nine great grandchildren; siblings: Reba Swinney, Doyle Baker, Loretta Choate, Carl Baker and wife Joyce, Kenneth Baker and wife Glenda; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and numerous friends.

Born on August 20, 1937 in Eufaula, Oklahoma and raised in California and New Mexico, the son of Thomas Leroy & Geneva (Spears) Baker, he was a retired Commercial Union carpenter of 39 years for Carpenter's Local Union 329.

Curtis met his loving wife, Sharon, on a blind date in May of 1968. They were married October 5th of the same year.

His life revolved around his children and grandchildren. He also loved to drink coffee at The Table of Knowledge with the men in Calvin.

Curtis is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Calvin, Oklahoma on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery. The sermon was presented by Pastor Bela Strickland and the obituary/eulogy was presented by Pastor Bill Blaylock. Pallbearers included Robert Jones, Rex Jones, Kent Blaylock, Brent Blaylock, Cameron Martin, and Travis Bower. Honorary pallbearers include Joshua Strickland and Rowdy Jones.
