Coy Eugene Wilbanks, 67, passed away at his daughter's home in Oklahoma City on Thursday, July 4, 2013.
Coy was the son of Eugene J. Wilbanks & Hazel W. (Sneed) Wilbanks, born in Holdenville, Oklahoma on October 14, 1945. He was brought up and attended schools in the Calvin area, and graduated Calvin High School in 1964.
Coy went to work with his dad in the oil fields as soon as he graduated, but found out he really didn't enjoy that much. He was able to get on with the Rock Island Railroad that following Spring on the track maintenance gang. Ironically, he enjoyed that more. He stayed with the Rock Island when it was bought out by MKT, Katy, and finally Union Pacific. He worked 41 years for the railroad. He loved the railroad!
He retired in 2005, and moved to Atwood in 1977. His favorite things were hunting and fishing, shooting guns, and talking on the CB radio. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, and for many years a monthly donor to St. Jude Children's Hospital. He had a wonderful sense of humor that he never lost.
Coy is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene & Hazel Wilbanks, and one brother, Phillip Wilbanks.
He is survived by four children: Loretta 'Lori' Wilbanks of Oklahoma City, Kristi Wilbanks of Lawton, LaDonna Wilbanks of Atwood, and Kit 'Blue' Wilbanks of Lone Grove; one granddaughter, Brooke 'Runnin Water' Schumacher; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Karla & Don Wallace of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Karen & Derrel Mounce of Shawnee, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews, numerous other relatives, and many, many friends.
