Coy Lee Welch Jr. passed away at Holdenville General Hospital on Monday, June 10, 2013, at the age of 70 years.
Coy was the son of Coy Lee Welch Sr. & Juanita Carrie (Perkins) Welch, born on December 28, 1942, in Mounds, Oklahoma. He was brought up and attended schools in the Tulsa area, graduating Central High School in 1960. He joined the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged after serving four years.
Coy lived for several years in Oklahoma City. He earned a degree in Business Management from Central State University in Edmond. He worked for Tom Bennett Manufacturing as supervisor of screen printing, and later as a supervisor for Continental Carlisle.
He married Diann Harden on June 13, 1981, in Oklahoma City. They lived for several years in Oklahoma City before moving to Holdenville in 1989. They have both worked for Safeguard Properties of Cleveland, Ohio in property management for 20+ years.
Coy loved to work. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports, watching Diann's horses, and spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Coy Sr. & Juanita Welch; two sisters, LaNell McIntosh and Carrie Cowitt; one brother, Andy Welch.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Diann, of the home; two sons, Timothy Welch and wife Laura of Tulsa, and Trevor Welch of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Jenelle DeFries and husband Cullen of Holdenville, Danette Funkhouser and husband Brandon of Hobart, Oklahoma, and Mya Welch of the home; nine grandchildren: Rhiannon, Madison, Makaylia, Mylam, Kya, Tinley, Laney, Carly, and Kellen; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 14, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel, with Cullen DeFries officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Berry, Keith Willingham, Jeremy Skipworth, Jeff Moore, Chris McCoy, Brandon Funkhouser, Cullen DeFries, Mylam DeFries, Joe Henry Harden, Zach Harden, and Colton Mosley.
