Obituary

Clinton Lee Grizzle passed away at his daughter's home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at the age of 72 years, ll months, and 24 days.

Lee was the son of Joe C. Grizzle & Oletha (Sexton) Grizzle, born on March 27, 1944, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. His childhood and younger years were spent with his family in the Norman and Ada areas, as well as a few years in southern California, before they returned to Oklahoma, where Lee graduated McLish High School with the Class of 1962. He married Charlene Davis on April 18, 1964, and they were blessed with two daughters, Carla and Cheryl.

Lee was employed for forty-four years at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant. He began his service as an Automotive Equipment Servicer at the McAlester Naval Ammunition Depot in February, 1966. In 1968, he assumed responsibility as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic for locomotives and railroad equipment, and through technical excellence and great experience became recognized as one of the installation's most skilled technicians. During his long service, Lee provided highly effective support to many global conflicts, including Vietnam, Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Kosovo, and Iraqi Freedom. He was recognized for those forty-four years of dedicated service to his country as a Department of Defense civilian employee with an Achievement Medal for Civilian Service upon his retirement on May 1, 2010.

Lee loved softball, and played until he was no longer physically able. He loved playing dominoes with his friends at VFW Post 1098 in McAlester.

His health declined during his last few years, and Lee moved to Tahlequah in July, 2016 to live with his daughter Carla and her family. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Oletha Grizzle; his sister, Evelyn Marquis; his maternal grandparents, John & Annie Sexton, and paternal grandparents U.E. & Palestine Grizzle; several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carla & Tim Kelley of Tahlequah, and Cheryl & Troy Powell of Coweta; two grandsons, Zachery Kelley and Brady Kelley of Tahlequah; one brother, Joe Grizzle and wife Rae Marie of Holdenville; two nieces, Diana Garner of Holdenville and Suzan Marquis of Ada; three nephews: William Marquis and Cliff Grizzle, both of Holdenville, and David Grizzle of Oklahoma City; brother-in-law Joe Marquis of Holdenville, sister-in-law Doris Griffin-Bryan and husband Glen of Konawa; Amanda Buckner, a special friend he considered as his own daughter; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 25, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at Holdenville Cemetery Chapel, and Lee will be laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery. Rev. Kevin Fisher will officiate.
