Clifton Michael Stewart passed away in Shawnee, Oklahoma on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at the age of 72 years.
Clifton was born Seminole, Oklahoma on September 11, 1941, to Fred Stewart & Dorothy (Coonce) Stewart. He was brought up and attended schools in Seminole, and was a 1959 graduate of Seminole High School. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era and then returned to Seminole, where he worked as a taxi driver and in the oil field, until he became disabled from an oilfield injury.
He married Louise Penner on May 3, 1985, in Gainesville, Texas. They lived four years in Wetumka and for a while in Norman and Purcell, then moved back to Seminole, where they've made their home for many years. Clifton enjoyed playing cards, and loved to collect antiques - which his family jokingly referred to as 'junk' - particularly old coins and knives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Dorothy Stewart, and one daughter, Teresa Stewart.
He is survived by his wife, Louise, of the home; one daughter, Kimberly Green, of McAlester, and two sons, Michael Stewart of Paris, Texas and Nathan Stewart of Tulsa; one stepson, Larry Penner of Bowlegs, and one stepdaughter, Jeanice Clark of Purcell; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn & Tony Self of Seminole; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
