Obituary

Clester Lee Wingo passed away in Ada, Oklahoma on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at the age of 87 years.

Clester was the son of Jim & Cordelia (Greer) Wingo, born on October 22, 1926, in the Jackson community in Seminole County, Oklahoma, and known all his life as 'Cleck'. He was brought up in the Tate community and spent his younger years attending New Model schools and helping with the work on the family farm. He married Wanda Lee Trotter on December 2, 1950 in Holdenville. They made their home in the Holdenville area, and were blessed with one daughter, Connie.

Cleck worked for more than 25 years at the OK Service Station on Main Street in Holdenville, and for eleven years owned and operated his own very busy service station, Cleck's Texaco, the SOUTH end of the strip for local kid 'dragging Main'. He worked also for Roy Ramsey Construction, helping Boots Madden with electrical work, and as a plumber's helper for Donnie Brewer. He set up TV antennas and mowed lawns for several people. Yard work was something he very much enjoyed, and continued after retiring from all other employment. Cleck & Wanda were married for more than 47 years when she passed away on June 13, 1998. Cleck married Pansey Naomi (Mills) Maxwell in Holdenville on August 20, 1999, and they enjoyed twelve years together before Pansey's death on September 8, 2011.

Cleck was an active member of the Capitol Heights Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and Sunday School teacher. His family was the joy of his life and he loved spending time with his grandchildren, never missed a game when his twin grandsons played baseball. He spent every moment possible with them until a few days ago when he told Connie, "I have to tell you goodbye." "Where are you going?" she asked, and Cleck replied, "Over the water and through the wind." Connie asked if she could go with him, and her daddy told her, "No, you have to stay here and take care of the boys." And then he went on ahead.

Cleck is preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Cordelia Wingo; his first wife and mother of his daughter, Wanda, and second wife, Pansey; two brothers, Vernon A. 'Stud' Wingo and Norman Wingo, who died at age 3; three sisters: Lucille Scroggins, Hazel Scroggins, and Maxine Bible.

He is survived by his daughter, Connie Taylor, of the home; his granddaughter, Cheryl Brewer (Mike Gamble), and four grandchildren: Cody Dewayne McCoy, Jordan Nichole Brewer, David Michael Brewer and Ronnie Lee Brewer, all of Holdenville; nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives; many friends, including Deborah Blackshire, Julie Reid, and Evelina Stephan, three special ladies who have been a blessing in Cleck's life for the past two years, taking excellent care of him, brightening his day and lighting up his face whenever they were with him.

Funeral services were Friday, October 3, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Capitol Heights Missionary Baptist Church, and Cleck was laid to rest in the Holdenville Cemetery. Rev. Jim Crawford and Rev. Mack Peercy were the officiating ministers. Pallbearers were Cody McCoy, Jordan Brewer, Cody Garner, Matt Tallant, Jason Scroggins, and Larry Scroggins. Honorary pallbearers were David Brewer, Ronnie Brewer, Steven McCoy, and Calupe Byerly.
