Cecil Emmitt 'Monk' Davis passed away in Blanchard on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at the age of 79 years.

Cecil was the son of Julies Ross Davis & Nora Mae (Newman) Davis, born on January 6, 1936, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where he was brought up and attended schools. He served in the National Guard.

He married Muriel Dean Collier on March 14, 1956, in Ada, Oklahoma. They lived for a short time in Holdenville, then moved to Oklahoma City, where they made their lifelong home. Cecil worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and welder, and owned and operated his own business, Cecil's Truck & Trailer. He loved to hunt and fish, and his favorite places were back home in the Holdenville area.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Julies & Nora Davis; one grandson, Shelby Davis; three sisters: Dena 'Sis' Davis, Arty Davis, and Virvie Davis; two brothers, Otis Davis and Carl Davis.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Muriel, of the home; three sons: Jimmy Cecil Davis (Mary) of Eufaula, James Dean Davis (Robin) of Norman, Chris Eldon Davis of Eufaula; ten grandchildren: Buffie Davis, Brandon Davis, Colby Davis, Lindsey Davis, Krissa Davis, Erick Davis, James Davis Jr., Megan Davis, Justin Davis, and Amber Davis; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, A. J. Davis of Holdenville; numerous nieces and nephews, many other family members, and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, 1:30 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel, and Cecil was laid to rest at Tate Mountain Cemetery in Wewoka with Rev. Butch Hodge officiating. Pallbearers were John Hooper, James Miller, Jeffrey Peterson, Colby Davis, Brandon Davis, and Albert Valasquez.
