Cathy Foster passed away peacefully at her home in Holdenville on Saturday evening, November 1, 2014, at the age of 55.
She was born November 30, 1958, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to M. H. Purkey and Winnie Jean (Dewberry) Purkey. Cathy's family moved to Holdenville when she was about eight years old. Her dad owned and operated Purkey's Glass Company for many years in Holdenville. She attended Holdenville schools and enjoyed living in a small town. She was a member of Capitol Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Holdenville.
Cathy married Charles Foster on March 1, 1980. They had two daughters, Melinda and Janet, to complete their family. Cathy was a housewife and mother, and did some babysitting in her home before going to work at Nichols Dollar Saver in 2001. She worked in the bakery/deli as a cake decorator until her health forced her to stop working. She always took care of her family and loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. But her greatest joy in her life was her precious granddaughters, Graclee and Ginelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, M. H. & Winnie Jean Purkey; her sister, Vickie Foster; a nephew, Joshua Purkey; her mother-in-law, Evelyn Foster, and brother-in-law, Eugene Foster.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Charles, of the home; two daughters, Janet Foster, of the home and Melinda Huff (Travis) of Lamar; two granddaughters, Graclee and Ginelle Huff of Lamar; one brother, Marion Purkey (Sheila) of Tulsa; nephews and nieces, including Jeremy Foster and Kevin Foster of Holdenville, Matthew Purkey (Amanda) and daughter Ashlyn, of Broken Arrow, Rebecca Purkey, son Benjamin and daughter Winnie Isabelle, of Tulsa, Angela Buie (Kevin) and sons Bobby and Kevin of Stroud; her special extended family include Pat Cook and sons David and Monte, of Holdenville, friends and coworkers at Nichols Dollar Saver, and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 5, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at Capitol Heights Missionary Baptist Church, and Cathy will be laid to rest in the Holdenville Cemetery. Rev. Mack Peercy is the officiating minister, assisted by Rev. Jim Crawford.
