Obituary

Burnie Junior Walton passed away at his home near Sasakwa, Oklahoma on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the age of 85 years.

Burnie was the son of Burnie S. Walton & Gladys Mae (Jones) Walton, born on August 23, 1931, in Sasakwa, Oklahoma, where he was brought up and attended schools. He married Doris Gaines in 1949, and they were the parents of two sons, Steve and Greg. He married Glenda Scott on October 9, 1963, and they also had two sons, Leslie and Buddy.

Burnie worked in the oilfield through the 1960s, then owned and operated his own heavy equipment excavation business through the 1970s till 1982. He worked many more years in the oilfield as a Pumper for Ken Knowles and Pete Cantrell. He enjoyed working, and went on working until 2015, when he retired at the age of 83.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Burnie & Gladys Walton; his wife of 49 years, Glenda, on October 31, 2012; two brothers, Willie Walton and Sidney Walton, and one sister, Helen Western.

He is survived by four sons: Steve Walton (Sue) of Ada, Greg Walton of Ada, Leslie Walton of Sasakwa, and Buddy Walton (Tina) of Choctaw; one daughter, Sheila Lucas of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Clayburn of Ada; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Graveside memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017, at the Walton Family Cemetery.
