Rev. Bunny Lewis Carpitcher passed away at Boyce Manor Nursing Home in Holdenville on Sunday evening, June 2, 2013, at the age of 71 years.
Bunny was the son of Titus & Lona (Harjo) Carpitcher, born on June 16, 1941, at Sasakwa, Oklahoma, where he was reared and attended schools. He entered the National Guard and served from 1960 to 1962. He was married to Betty Harjo and was the father of two children. He traveled the U.S. for 15 years working as a sheetrocker , worked seven years for the Santa Fe Railroad and three years on the pipeline.
He loved to fish and hunt. Playing softball was his favorite thing, third base was his favorite spot, and in later years he enjoyed just watching the game.
He was of the Baptist faith, and became an ordained minister in 2003. He was a member of Rock Springs Indian Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
Bunny is preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents, Titus & Lona Carpitcher; three sisters: Evelina, Zelda, and Eliza, and one brother, Andrew; great grandson Ivan Williams.
He is survived by his son, Lewis Carpitcher of Seminole, and daughter, Juanita Williams of Wewoka; eleven grandchildren: Jennifer Lowery of Denton, Texas, Stephanie Lowery, Tom Williams, Jesse Williams, and Misty Williams, all of Wewoka, Michelle Lott and Kenneth Williams, both of Woodville, Texas, Cody Carpitcher of Seminole, Mayson Carpitcher of Holdenville, Monte Carpitcher of Ada, and Joseph Roebuck of Calvin; 18 great grandchildren; sister Alice Walters and brother Culley Carpitcher, both of Sasakwa; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
