Bruce Edd Barksdale passed away on September 10, 2025, at his home in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 73.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill Barksdale and Madge Reid Barksdale, and one son, Brian Scott Barksdale.

He is survived by one son, Derek Barksdale of Poteau, Oklahoma; two brothers, Billy Joe Barksdale of Redrock, Texas, and Byron Barksdale and wife LeAnna of Holdenville, and one sister, Theresha Hearn and husband Steve of Holdenville; longtime loving companion Donna Stafford, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Bruce was born on March 21, 1952, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He lived in Holdenville all of his life, and graduated from Holdenville Schools. He married Cindy Lee Barksdale on January 29th, 1982, and she preceded him in death on April 30, 2004. Bruce worked in Construction a good part of his life until he started at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, where he retired after 23 years. After being retired a few years he decided to return to the oilfield and worked a few years for Advantage Construction, then went to work for Hughes County District 1 as an equipment operator before finally retiring for good. He attended Grace United Pentecostal Church.

Bruce loved to hunt and fish. Derek has fond memories of him and Mike Giles coming home with ice chests full of fish. Bruce loved to work in his shop outside until he was no longer able. He loved all kinds of music, mostly country. He was a big OU fan and he loved Gunsmoke. If you visited his home, you were going to watch hours of re-runs, and you-tube videos. He was one of a kind and dearly loved.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, 2:00pm at Holdenville Cemetery Chapel, with Rev. Mike Barksdale and Rev. Kevin Fisher officiating.
