Betty June Stafford passed away in Okemah, Oklahoma on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the age of 85 years.
Betty was the daughter of Orville W. Jones & Daisy M. (Fitz) Jones, born on September 3, 1930, in Yuba City, California. She was brought up and attended schools in California, and graduated Marysville Union High School with the Class of 1947.
Betty was living in Las Vegas, Nevada, working at the Snowflake Bakery, when she met Edward W. Stafford. She and Edward were married on July 10, 1957, in Carson City, Nevada. They lived in Tacoma, Washington until 1969, then in Las Vegas for several years before moving to Holdenville in 2001. After 47 years together, Edward passed away in 2004.
Betty was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a creative and talented person of many interests. She played guitar and was the vocalist for many years for The Outlaw Band in Las Vegas. She loved painting pictures and crocheting, and she loved bowling. She was an avid reader, and read and reread her favorite sci-fi books "When Worlds Collide" and "After Worlds Collide" until the covers fell off. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Orville & Daisy Jones; her husband, Edward W. Stafford; one sister, Leona, in 1975.
She is survived by one son, Joe Stafford (Janette) of Boley OK; four grandchildren: Joe Stafford of Wewoka, Kyle Stafford of Yelm WA, Michelle Stafford of OKC, and Lucas Stafford of Holdenville; six great grandchildren: Elexis, Roper, Wyatt, Zachary, Karson, and Kaden, along with one great grandson on the way, Kassius; other family members and many friends, including close friends Diana & Kevin Foster of Holdenville.
Funeral services were held on Monday, August 1, 2016, 1:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel.
