Bennie Lloyd Fish passed away at his home in Holdenville, Oklahoma on Sunday evening, September 11, 2016, at the age of 59 years.
Bennie was the son of Solomon 'Sonny' Fish & Josephine (Factor) Fish, born on May 6, 1957, in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He attended Bowlegs and Konawa schools, and later earned his GED. He joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1974 to 1976. He married Laverne Wolf on November 5, 2015, in Holdenville.
Bennie worked many years in the oil fields all over the country. He lived for several years in Phoenix, Arizona, where he attended Phoenix Community College and worked at an alcohol and substance abuse program. He returned to Oklahoma in 2003 and went back to work in the oil field until his health failed in 2013.
Bennie enjoyed fishing and word search puzzles. He was outgoing and friendly, and never met a stranger. He was generous and kind, and would give anybody his last dime and expect nothing in return.
He is preceded in death by his father, Solomon Fish, and his infant son, Dexter Eugene Fish.
He is survived by his wife, Laverne, of the home; three daughters: Tasha Fish Douglas (Andre Collins) of Albuquerque NM, Makayla Fish and Sierra Fish, both of Phoenix AZ, and one son, Tooley Fish, also of Phoenix; two grandsons, Andrew Douglas and Alexander Douglas; his mother, Josephine Factor Hulsey of Seminole; one brother, Dennis Fish (Katherine) of Seminole; two sisters, Sharon Burgess of Wewoka, and Lucy Kelough of Seminole; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 15, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Home's Lillye Chapel, and Bennie was laid to rest at the Seminole Nation Cemetery and Veterans Memorial south of Seminole, with rites performed by the Seminole Nation Honor Guard. Rev. Dan Factor was the officiating minister. Pallbearers were Fred Footracer, Nicholas Wathan, Sly Watashe, Justin Scott, Vincent Wolf, and Curtis Little. Honorary pallbearers were Mitchell Kelough, Chris Burgess, Gary Burgess, Dennis Fish, Marty Morgan, Robert Kelough, Dennis Fish Jr., Kenneth Fish, and Tooley Fish.
Wake service was held at Lillye Chapel on Wednesday, September 14, at 6:00 p.m.
