Audrey Arna Ellis passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Saturday evening, March 9, 2013 at the age of 80 years.
Audrey was the daughter of Gerald Carveth & Lois (Digman) Carveth, born on December 1, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised and attended schools in the Chicago area, and moved to Bloomington, Illinois to attend Illinois State University. She met William R. Sarver there, and was married to him in Chicago in 1956. They were the parents of three children, Douglas, Daniel, and Sandra. They lived for 23 years in St. Francis, Wisconsin, where Audrey worked for many years as a school librarian and secretary. She later married Francis J. Ellis and worked as a legal secretary in Perryville, Arkansas, their home for more than 20 years.
Audrey loved painting, particularly the intricate combining of scrolls, flowers, and woodcarving designs in the elegant art known as rosemaling. She loved nature and the outdoors, gardening, fishing and hiking, and knew the identity of the surrounding plants, animals and birds. She loved her dog, Susie, the last in a long line that she enjoyed taking care of. She loved people, and spending time with her friends at church, at the art studio, and her colleagues at the Perryville Partners in Progress. She loved her family, and was blessed to enjoy her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, Gerald Carveth and her mother, Lois Bartels, husband Francis Ellis, and one stepbrother, Clark Carveth.
She is survived by three children: Douglas Sarver of St. Francis, Wisconsin, Daniel Sarver and wife Jenny, of Burlington, Wisconsin, Sandra Odum and husband Mark, of Holdenville, Oklahoma; six grandchildren: Elizabeth Stallcup and Nathaniel Odum, both of Holdenville, Natania Smith of Saltillo, Mississippi, Bryce Sarver, Brett Sarver, and Blake Sarver, all of Burlington, Wisconsin; four great grandchildren: Evan, Tyler, Samuel, and Zachary; two brothers, Peter Carveth of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and John Carveth of Lakewood, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
