Franklin L. ‘Frank’ McCoy passed away at Holdenville General Hospital on Sunday, December 16, 2012, at the age of 91 years.
Frank was the son of Samuel Stedman McCoy & Cliffie Opal (Wagoner) McCoy, born on May 11, 1921, in Wetumka, Oklahoma, where he was brought up and attended school. He married Jewell Mae Bratcher on May 24, 1941, in Holdenville.
Frank worked in his younger years in the shipyards of Oakland, California, and also in a ‘CC’ Camp. His primary occupation for most of his life was working as a farmer and ranch hand. He worked for 17 years on Jack & Fleta Coppedge’s farm, living on the farm and taking care of the farm. He then moved to Holdenville, where he worked for Neil Clark on his ranch, and later worked for Neil’s son, Brent. He worked for the Clark ranch for 21, until he was no longer able to work due to failing health.
Frank loved to play dominoes, fish and hunt.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jewell, and son, Ronald; one granddaughter, Sue Rogers; two daughters-in-law, Wanda Canaday McCoy and Nadine Skipworth McCoy; his parents, Sam & Cliffie McCoy; five brothers: Glen McCoy, Gerald McCoy, Leroy McCoy, L. D. McCoy, and Leonard McCoy; two sisters, Juanita McCoy and Thelma Mazzula. Survivors are his children: Donnie McCoy of Holdenville, Elaine Jones and husband Jon of Calvin, Clifford McCoy and friend Angie of Shawnee, and Dewayne McCoy and wife Linda of Blanchard; two brothers, Eldon McCoy of Holdenville and Pete McCoy of Texas; two sisters, Christine McCoy of Holdenville and Imogene Cantrell of Fillmore, California; eleven grandchildren: Michael McCoy and wife Angelica of California, Tina McCoy of Holdenville, Ricky McCoy of Texas, Joyce Bauer of Holdenville, Becky Moutaw and husband Roger of Maud, Jeff Jones and wife Briget of McAlester, Chris Jones and wife Laura of Calvin, Steven McCoy and wife Brandi of Shawnee, Lynn McCoy, Billy McCoy, and Jennifer McCoy, all of Shawnee; twenty-eight great grandchildren, fourteen great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 27, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Lamar, and Frank will be laid to rest in the Lamar Cemetery. Rev. Tony Chesser and Rev. Larry Chesser are the officiating ministers. Pallbearers are Jeff Jones, Chris Jones, Steven McCoy, Robby McCoy, Jeremy McCoy, and Roger Moutaw. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Downy, Billy McCoy, Lynn McCoy, Cameron Swadley, Richard Garner, Michael McCoy, Ricky McCoy, and Brandon McCoy.
